Which Modern Kitchen Look Suits Your Home?

Modern kitchens do not all need to look the same. Start with the amount of contrast, warmth and detail you want, then build the cabinetry and material choices around it.

Handleless and Minimal Classic

Handleless and Minimal

Flat cabinet fronts with finger-pull or handleless details keep the cabinetry visually simple, particularly across long runs of drawers and doors.

Warm Modern With Timber Most requested

Warm Modern With Timber

Combine clean cabinetry lines with timber-look panels, shelving or feature sections to bring warmth into an otherwise simple modern palette.

Light Grey and White Best of both

Light Grey and White

Use white cabinetry with soft greys through an island, benchtop or selected doors for a lighter scheme without making every surface the same colour.

Dark and Industrial Warm & rustic

Dark and Industrial

Dark cabinetry, black details and concrete or stone-look surfaces can create a stronger modern look, with timber accents available to soften the room.

Plan the Details

The Details That Give a Modern Kitchen Its Clean Look

The simple appearance of a modern kitchen usually comes from decisions made before the cabinetry is built. Door profiles, appliance positions, storage and lighting all affect how clean the finished room feels.

Flat-Panel Cabinetry Door finishes

Flat-Panel Cabinetry

Choose smooth cabinet fronts without decorative frames or mouldings for a simpler line across drawers, base cabinets and overheads.

Handleless Options Handle options

Handleless Options

Finger-pull and other handleless options reduce visual clutter. Standard handles can also be used where you prefer something more familiar to grip.

Appliance Planning Pantry & tall storage

Appliance Planning

Tell us which fridge, dishwasher, ovens and rangehood you plan to use. We can plan the cabinetry around the required openings so appliance positions are considered before manufacture.
Fully panelled appliance fronts depend on the appliance model and final specification.

Tall Storage Drawers

Tall Storage

Use full-height pantry cabinetry and tall units to move food, cookware and other everyday items away from the main benchtop.

Benchtops and Splashbacks Island cabinetry

Benchtops and Splashbacks

Compare laminate and stone benchtops alongside splashback options so the colours, thicknesses and finishes work with your cabinet doors.

Kitchen Lighting Open shelving

Kitchen Lighting

Plan general lighting together with task lighting around benchtops, cooking areas and overhead cabinetry where additional light is useful.

Made to Measure in Sydney

Modern Kitchen Cabinetry, Manufactured in Our Sydney Factory

The right cabinetry should suit both the look of your modern kitchen and how you use it every day. At Paradise Kitchens, we manufacture custom cabinetry in our Wetherill Park factory, with cabinet sizes, finishes, storage and hardware planned around your kitchen design and measurements.

Polyurethane Cabinetry Classic

Polyurethane Cabinetry

Choose polyurethane cabinet doors in a wide range of colours, with matte, satin and gloss finishes available to create a clean, modern look.

Laminate and Timber-Look Finishes Most requested

Laminate and Timber-Look Finishes

Introduce colour, texture or warmth with laminate and timber-look finishes. These can be used across the full kitchen or as feature cabinetry to create contrast.

Custom Cabinet Manufacturing Best of both

Custom Cabinet Manufacturing

Your cabinetry is manufactured in our Wetherill Park factory to suit the agreed kitchen measurements and design. Cabinet sizes can be planned around your layout, appliances and storage requirements rather than relying only on standard configurations.

Drawers and Hardware Warm & rustic

Drawers and Hardware

Choose drawer sizes, hinges and internal hardware based on what you need to store and how you use the kitchen. Soft-close drawers and pull-out storage options can also be incorporated into the design.

Pantry and Corner Storage Bexley

Pantry and Corner Storage

Make better use of deeper or harder-to-reach spaces with tall pantry cabinets, pull-out storage and practical corner solutions designed around your layout.

Bexley

Island Cabinetry

From $125

A custom kitchen island can provide additional preparation space, drawers, cupboards and seating. Its dimensions are planned around your room so there is enough space to move comfortably through the kitchen.

Plan the Room

Choose a Layout That Fits the Space First

A kitchen can look good on paper and still feel awkward when two people are trying to use it. We plan the layout around your room, storage needs, appliances and the way you move between the main work areas.

L-Shaped Kitchen

L-Shaped Kitchen

Cabinetry runs along two adjoining walls, leaving the rest of the room more open. It can work well where the kitchen connects directly with dining or living areas.

U-Shaped Kitchen

U-Shaped Kitchen

Three sides give you more room for cabinetry and benchtop space while keeping the main work areas relatively close together.

Galley Kitchen

Galley Kitchen

Two opposing runs can make good use of a narrower room. Appliance doors, drawer openings and the walkway between both sides need to be planned carefully.

Kitchen With an Island

Kitchen With an Island

Add preparation space, storage or seating away from the wall cabinetry. We’ll work through the island size and the clearance needed around it.

Getting It Right

Like the Modern Look but Worried About Living With It?

The things that make a modern kitchen look simple can also raise practical questions. Here is how we work through them before the cabinetry and finishes are locked in.

Your Worry

  • It'll Feel Too Cold
"I like modern kitchens, but I still want the room to feel like home."
  • Every Mark Will Show
"I don’t want to be wiping cupboard doors all day."
  • Handleless Won’t Be Practical
"It looks good, but will I actually like opening it every day?"
  • The Appliances Will Break Up the Look
"I want the cabinetry to look clean, not like appliances were squeezed in afterwards."
  • Where Does Everything Go?
"Clear benches look great until the toaster, kettle and groceries come out."
  • It’ll Date Too Quickly
"I don’t want the kitchen to look tied to one trend."

How We Approach It

  • Modern does not have to mean white cabinetry everywhere. Timber-look finishes, warmer neutrals, textured surfaces and selected darker colours can soften the room while keeping the cabinet lines simple.
  • Marks can appear differently depending on the colour and surface you choose. Compare matte, satin and gloss polyurethane finishes alongside other door options so you can see and feel the difference before deciding.
  • Handleless is not one single system. We can discuss finger-pull profiles and standard handles, then decide which opening style makes sense for drawers, pantry doors and frequently used cabinets.
  • Bring your appliance sizes or model details into the planning stage. We can position fridge cabinetry, dishwasher spaces, ovens and rangehood cabinetry around the selected appliances so they sit more naturally within the kitchen.
If you want cabinetry panels fitted to panel-ready appliances, this should be confirmed against the selected appliance model before the design is finalised.
  • Plan storage around what actually lives in your kitchen. Deep drawers, pantry cabinetry, internal organisers and dedicated storage for frequently used appliances can keep more of the working benchtop available.
  • Keep the larger cabinetry areas relatively simple, then introduce stronger colours or finishes in selected doors, an island, handles, tapware or lighting. It gives the room character without making every fixed surface compete for attention.

Bring your kitchen photos, measurements, appliance information or inspiration images to your consultation and work through the details with a designer.

Warranty on Custom Kitchens and Hardware

Custom-made kitchens carry a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty on quality and craftsmanship, while cabinet hardware carries a lifetime warranty.

Installation can be arranged with your Paradise Kitchens order, or you can discuss a supply-only or DIY approach where it suits your project.

Complete the Details

Compare the Surfaces and Fixtures With Your Cabinetry

Your cabinet colour is easier to judge when the benchtop, sink and tap are sitting beside it. Work through the larger selections together instead of choosing each product in isolation.

Kitchen Benchtops

Kitchen Benchtops

Compare laminate and stone options, including colour, thickness and edge details, against your chosen cabinetry.

Kitchen Sinks

Kitchen Sinks

Choose a sink size and style that works with your cabinet width, benchtop and the way you use the main preparation area.

Kitchen Mixer Taps

Kitchen Mixer Taps

Compare shape, height and finish beside your sink, cabinetry and other hardware before locking in the final combination.

Plan Your Budget

What Changes the Cost of a Modern Kitchen?

Modern describes the style, not a fixed price. Your final quote depends on the amount of cabinetry, selected finishes, benchtop, storage features and how much renovation work is involved.

Kitchen Size and Layout

A compact L-shaped kitchen requires a different amount of cabinetry from a U-shaped layout or a kitchen with a large island.

Cabinet Door Finish

Polyurethane, laminate and other door finishes have different specifications and pricing. The selected profile and finish also affect the final cost.

Handles and Opening Style

Standard handles, finger-pull doors and other handleless systems are specified differently and should be included when the cabinetry is priced.

Benchtop

The material, overall size, thickness, edge treatment, cut-outs and waterfall ends can all change the cost.

Storage Features

Deep drawers, internal organisers, pull-out storage, bins and specialised pantry fittings add different hardware and cabinet requirements.

Renovation Scope

Supplying cabinetry is different from a project that also involves removal, installation, benchtops, plumbing, electrical work or other trades.

Your Quote Explained

Understand Exactly What Is in Your Quote

Before proceeding, your quote should make clear which products and work are included for your particular project.

Depending on your agreed scope, this may include:

  • Kitchen design and layout
  • Final cabinetry measurements
  • Custom-made cabinetry

Common Questions About Custom Kitchen

If you cannot find an answer to your question regarding a Modern Kitchens, then feel free to call us at Paradise Kitchens on (02) 9757 4400 to enquire or  book a free consultation online.

What is the difference between a modern and contemporary kitchen?

The terms are often used together. Both usually favour simpler cabinet lines and less decorative detailing, while contemporary kitchens may bring in current colours, timber textures and other changing design elements.

Can I have a modern kitchen with handleless cabinetry?

Yes. Paradise Kitchens offers handleless options including finger-pull styles. You can also combine handleless cabinetry with standard handles where a conventional grip works better for a particular cupboard or drawer.

What finishes are available for polyurethane kitchen doors?

Paradise Kitchens offers polyurethane kitchens in a wide choice of colours, with matte, satin and gloss finishes available. Visit the showroom to compare the appearance and feel of different surfaces before choosing.

Can my appliances be integrated into a modern kitchen?

Appliance positions can be planned into the cabinetry so fridges, dishwashers, ovens and rangehoods sit neatly within the layout. If you want matching cabinetry panels on panel-ready appliances, confirm compatibility with your selected appliance before the cabinetry is finalised.

Can I see what my modern kitchen will look like before it is made?

Yes. Paradise Kitchens can prepare a 3D view of your kitchen so you can better understand the cabinet layout and how the main parts of the design work together before manufacture.

How much does a modern kitchen cost in Sydney?

It depends on the size, layout, cabinetry finish, benchtop, hardware, storage and renovation scope. The most accurate way to establish the cost is to have your chosen specifications included in a project-specific quote.
